God is not a fish inspector

Valgardson, W. D. (Author).

Summary: These stories are set in the Interlake triangle of Manitoba, but the themes of love and death and loyalty are both primitive and universal. Reviewers have compared Valgardson's sense of necessity, the iron frame within which men and women live out their lives, to that of Thomas Hardy and the Russian novelists. His stories have been published in numerous anthologies and broadcast on CBC TV. He has won the President's Medal for the best short fiction published in Canada and been named Bridgeman Scholar to the Breadloaf Writers Conference.
