Summary:
when a wounded buffalo soldier rides into town, life around Rosewood changes in ways Katie, Mayme, and Emma could never foresee. The soldier is an educated, spiritual man who turns heads and riles the local townspeople. Everyone at Rosewood is taken with him, but one young woman will be especially touched by his gentle presence. Through his encouragment, she will learn to recognize her value as a child of God...and as a lady. On a nearby plantation an ambitious man plans to do away with evidence of his past indiscretions. Can the Rosewood family save the life of one it holds dear? Or will they be too late?
