Another kind of Eden : a novel Cover Image Book Book

Another kind of Eden : a novel / James Lee Burke.

Summary:

Early 1960's. Aspiring novelist Aaron Holland Broussard has observed the American West from an open door of a boxcar, riding the rails for both inspiration and odd jobs. In Denver, he meets Joanne McDufy, a fierce and articulate college student and gifted painter. They connect immediately, but it's complicated by Joanne's involvement with a shady professor who is involved in a drug-addled cult. When a sinister businessman and his son, who wield their influence through vicious cruelty, set their sights on Aaron and draw him into an investigation of grotesque murders, it is clear that this idyllic landscape harbors tremendous power--and evil.
