A man downstairs : a novel Cover Image Book Book

A man downstairs : a novel / Nicole Lundrigan.

Lundrigan, Nicole, (author.).

Summary:

Molly is trying to make a fresh start with her teenage son after her divorce. But she is feeling very much squeezed between her son's acting out and the challenges of caring for her beloved father, recently felled by a stroke. Moving back to her hometown to be closer to her father brings back memories, not least because some things, and people, have barely changed at all. Those of her life with her father are good, but a violent trauma defined Molly's childhood: when she was barely more than a toddler, she witnessed a murder, and her testimony sent a man to prison. Now, after Molly, a trained therapist, volunteers for a local help-line, mysterious threats start to come in. At first they seem random, but eventually Molly begins to realize that what she remembers, and what the town's population and police believe about that horrifying event, may not be the whole truth. As she searches for clues within herself, and from the people closest to her family, she begins to realize that more than one life may have been destroyed that long ago day. And now someone intends to hold Molly herself to account.
